TRIG Senior Policy Advisor

Janice Adair served as the Special Assistant for Climate Policy to the Director of Washington State’s Department of Ecology. Janice was the first Chair of the Western Climate Initiative (WCI), a collaboration of 7 US states and 4 Canadian provinces. During her tenure as chair, she helped guide the WCI to agreement on its design for an economy-wide regional cap-and-trade program. She represented Washington as a member of the Board of Directors for The Climate Registry and served on its Executive Committee. Janice also represented Washington State in North America 2050, a multi-state/provincial climate and energy collaboration where she chaired the Industry 2050 working group working to design a national greenhouse gas benchmark standard. She facilitated the staff working group of Pacific Coast Collaborative during Governor Gregoire’s chairmanship of the PCC, resulting in a 2012 action climate and energy action plan for the three West Coast states and British Columbia. Janice has worked in environmental policy for more than 18 years in both Washington and Alaska. She holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Alaska, where she graduated with honors.
