June 5-6 Oakland Leaders Self-Care and Resiliency Workshop
Transformational Resilience Program

The Oakland Climate Action Coalition, Pacific Institute, West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project, City of Oakland, and Alameda County, in partnership with The Resource Innovation Group and Trauma Resource Institute, invite community leaders in Oakland to join us for the upcoming Leaders Self-Care and Resiliency Workshop.

Description of Workshop

This highly interactive workshop will help Oakland community leaders learn how to use simple self-care resilience skills to increase their capacity to cope with ongoing life, work-related, and societal stresses that will be made worse by climate change enhanced acute traumas such as natural disasters and chronic stresses such as rising food prices and food shortages due to drought in ways that enhance both personal and collective wellbeing. Although a special emphasis will be placed on building resilience for the direct and indirect adversities resulting from climate change, the skills learned in the workshop will enhance your capacity to care for yourself and remain resilient to all types of challenges.

Humans are hardwired to be resilient. The Leaders Self-Care and Resiliency Workshop will help people recognize and enhance their natural capacities for resilience and growth. When people know how to utilize simple self-care resilience building skills and tools, they increase their natural capacity to weather life’s storms in a calm and confident way and use adversity as an opportunity to envision and attain new possibilities.
