Why Attend This Workshop?
Today’s unprecedented levels of economic, social, and environmental stresses and adversities generate significant challenges for organizations and communities. Those that are structured in ways that enhance the psychological and emotional resilience of employees, clients, stakeholders, and citizens have much greater potential to thrive in the midst of adversity. Those that are organized in ways that diminish the psychosocial resilience of their members will find themselves bouncing from one crisis to the next while struggling with low productivity, commitment, and success.

This web-based workshop helps executives, staff, and stakeholders from public, private, and non-profit organizations as well as community leaders and civic activists understand how trauma and stress affect groups. Participants learn how to assess the degree to which their organization or community is trauma-organized, meaning it creates and reinforces stress and trauma for staff, clients, stakeholders, or citizens. They then learn how to embed key principles and use systems change strategies to transition to a trauma-informed resilience-enhancing Safe-Haven that increases the sense of safety, commitment, and wellbeing of everyone.

What Type of Knowledge Will I Gain?

  • The differences between a trauma-organized and trauma-informed resilience-enhancing organization and community.
  • How to assess the degree to which your organization or community has adopted measures that can counteract the individual and group hyperarousal that results from chronic stress and adversity and the reenactment of harmful actions that typically result.
  • Key governing principles that help a group transition from a trauma-organized to a resilience-enhancing psychosocial Safe Haven.
  • The principles and methods of whole-systems change.
  • How to develop a customized systems-change action plan to begin the transition from trauma-organized to resilience-enhancing Safe Havens.

What Type of Skills Will I Learn?
The workshop is packed with evidence-based tools, strategies, and formulas to turn adversity into an opportunity to enhance the resilience of employees, clients,  stakeholders, and citizens. Specific skills include:

  • Skills to analyze the degree to which your organization or community is trauma-organized compared to resilience-enhancing.
  • Skills to analyze the effects of trauma and stress on the psychosocial wellbeing of your organization or community’s staff, clients, stakeholders, and citizens.
  • Communications skills to explain the need, goals, and processes involved with transitioning to trauma-informed resilience-enhancing Safe-Haven.
  • Systems change interventions to help your group make the transition to a Safe Haven.

Who Should Attend?
This workshop is ideal for corporate, non-profit, and public sector leaders, staff, and civic activists. It is especially useful for:

  • Senior executives, managers, and staff from the private sector that work in stressful situations or who are charged with maintaining services during an emergency.
  • Senior executives, managers and line staff from child, family, mental and behavioral health, and other social service providers.
  • Senior executives, managers, and staff from local, state and federal government agencies dealing with public health, emergency management, police and fire personnel, natural resource management, education, and other issues.
  • Senior executives, managers, and staff working with non-profit environmental, social justice, human rights and other social change organizations.
  • Civic and community activists interested in learning how to build psychosocial resilience.
